My first pair of socks

My first sock. The second sock actually came out much better.

Sick puppy!

If he did this to a defenseless cat, I can only imagine what this sick guy did to torture his ex.

A Mount Washington woman called police on Jan. 28 when she came home to find a package gift-wrapped with red bows and pink tissue paper.

She suspected that the package was from her former boyfriend, who had recently been released from incarceration and had been leaving her photos of the two of them with her face destroyed.

Inside the package police found the severed head of a black, 12 to 16-week-old kitten and a note reading, “I love you, Your Ben.”

Police arrested Benjamin Gregory, 30, of Aliquippa at 11:30 a.m. Friday for charges of stalking and cruelty to animals.

He is in Allegheny County Jail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for the morning of Feb. 8.

Police said Gregory has an extensive criminal record, including doing time for drugs and later pleading guilty to simple assault.

He was accused of trying to suffocate the alleged victim.

Authorities said when Gregory was released from prison in December on the assault charges, he attempted to re-establish his relationship with his former girlfriend.

Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles

I have owned a a Denise set for a few months and love it. It really is a dream come true for knitters, who don’t want to have a myriad of different circular needles in varying sizes. I have this set to make hats in the round on a 17″ inch circular (not the typical 16″) and it works just fine. You can also customize the lengths by adding other cords using an extender.

If you are working on a very large project you can buy extra long cords in sizes 30â€?, 40â€?, 52â€?. If that’s not enough, you can now get needle ends in sizes #17 or #19.

So, what’s not to like, right? Well, the only drawback I personally have is if you like slick needles, they are not that great. They are made of resin, which is great if you like bamboo or wood needles. I had been using bamboo for a while, before I decided to try the kit. I instantly loved it!

However, I ordered some Knit Picks sock needles, which are made of plated steel and then I felt like I were cheating on my HS boyfriend. There is no comparison to the ice-like surface of the Knit Picks. The yarn just slipped right off of my Knit Picks. This is great for those of us, who have an occasion to knit a little tightly.

Now, you may be wondering…well, which is going to be, Denise or Knit Pick Options?

Ultimately, I’m going to stick with Denise, because I really like the ultimate flexibility. I also forgot to mention that although, this does not have any direct impact on my knitting, I really like the Denise kit case. It’s very well organized; it’s easy to keep your set in it’s original condition. Although, I’d love to have a steel, or aluminum set, I think I’d be hard pressed to find another kit as wet set up as Denise Interchangeable.

I called Denise to ask if they had any plans of coming out with a steel or aluminum set. They nicely told me that they had no intentions of coming out with a new set, as it would require a new mold.

Regardless, I’m a Denise fan and think it was money well spent!
