So, Microsoft is hyping up Vista, but will it be all good?

While I anticipate that there will be an inevitable transition to Vista by most consumers, I ponder the validity of the price and the functionality of the new OS. Am I going to be impressed with the presentation? I seriously doubt it, but then again my first box was an Apple. Although, I use a pc and have come to actually like them, I am a true mac lover.

I personally, would not spend extra money for the 3D interface that comes with Vista. However, since I tend to be the queen of gadgets, I may find some of the new features, such as the sidebars, useful…or just entertaining.

As for security, well IE has this nifty feature to prevent your PC from being harmed by viruses and worms, but this feature only works with Vista. Now, am I going to run out and buy Vista because of this? Um, no…not when I primarily use Firefox.

Now, don’t get me wrong. There are some new features that may be worth a try. There are new parental controls that are supposed to be very fine-tuned. Let’s face it, toddlers know how to use computers and get on the Internet, so taking precautions are mandatory.

Also, there’s the User Account Control (UAC), which has been added. It’s like ad-blockers, but for your files, preventing hackers from ‘seeking and destroying.’ It prompts the user, asking them if they want a particular action carried out.

All-in-all, I don’t think that I’m going to be waiting on any line to get Vista. I just do not see the justification for all of the hoopla. Perhaps, I’ll be proven wrong, but I’ll just wait to see.
