Tangled up In Lace Yarns

posted in Knit-witted, Rantings |

I’m working on my first afghan, but I could not resist ordering some scrumptious lace wool from handpaintedyarn.com.

Their prices are phenomenal. They have an incredible color and weight selection. Alas, they have superb customer service. They make it difficult to not purchase from them.

The lace yarn (regular lace yarn) I ordered from handpainted yarn was, unfortunately, of inferior quality. It is unevenly spun, thick and thin, and sometimes fuzzy. I would not recommend it, though the merino lace may be of higher quality. Yes, the colors are quite lovely, but even here, when using handpaintedyarns, I would recommend staggering the yarn every two rows with two separate skeins, to avoid pooling.

Yikes! I wish I’d known this before I bought so much yarn. However, I’ll use it and then opt for a different brand. What brand of lace yarn do you recommend?
